I have a problem where I can’t just casually watch a show. I’m either texting three people about it before the credits roll or I’m hosting a full watch party with snacks and opinions. There’s no in between. So here’s what’s been keeping me up lately, and my honest take on whether it’s worth your time.

From (season 4)

I’ll be upfront… I was nervous about this one. From is a slow burn, and mystery shows have a rough track record of actually paying off. But season four delivered. They’ve announced that season five is the last, which honestly made me more excited, not less. Knowing they have an ending in mind means the slow build is going somewhere. This is the kind of show where I never once looked at my phone during an episode. I’m constantly trying to piece it together, and I’m constantly wrong, and I love that. If you like something that makes you feel a little bit insane between episodes, this is it.

Widows Bay (season 1)

This one surprised me. I went in expecting a standard horror comedy, and what I got was… okay, imagine if Parks and Rec and Lost had a baby. But a little less silly than that sounds. It’s dry, it’s quirky, it’s weird in the best way. If you watched The Leftovers and loved it, you’d love this. It’s got that same feeling where something is clearly very wrong but everyone is just kind of… going about their day. The humor is dark without being mean about it, and I genuinely laughed out loud more than I expected to. Highly recommend if you like your comedy a little unhinged.

The Vampire Lestat (Interview with the Vampire, season 3)

Okay. I have read all the Anne Rice books. So I went into this season with opinions, and I’m happy to report that I love what they’re doing. The first two seasons were from Louis’ point of view, and this season shifts to Lestat, and Lestat is… a lot. In the most fun way possible. He’s completely unreliable as a narrator, this season is kind of balls to the wall, and the vibe is way different from the first two seasons. But that’s the point. Lestat IS a different vibe. I think the show does a really good job of portraying what it would be like to be stuck in a somewhat toxic relationship for literal centuries, and somehow makes that entertaining as hell. If you haven’t started this series yet, go back to season one. It’s worth the commitment.
